Love the analogy to semiconductor manufacturing. The gap between available technology components and usable abstractions is spot-on - reminds me of early computing before compilers existed. The biggest insight here is recognizing that neither academia (wrong incentives for tool-building) nor startups (too expensive/broad) will solve this, which is why the BBN model fits pefectly. I'd be curious how Syntato thinks about the tradeoff betwen generalizability and species-specific optimization.
